Finding Balance in a Changing Body

Finding balance during perimenopause feels a bit like trying to stand steady on shifting sand—just when you think you’ve got your footing, something changes again. Your body, your mood, your energy… none of it plays by the old rules anymore. And if you’re anything like me, you’re still expected to show up for everyone else while quietly trying to figure out what’s going on inside yourself. Balance doesn’t look the way it used to. It’s not about having everything perfectly managed or neatly in place. Some days, balance is simply remembering to drink water, taking a breath before you react, or choosing rest over pushing through exhaustion. It’s learning that doing less doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re adjusting. There’s also a kind of honesty that comes with this stage of life. You start to realize what actually matters and what doesn’t. The pressure to be everything to everyone begins to crack, even if just a little. And in those cracks, there’s space to take care of yourself—not as an afterthought, but as something necessary. That might look like setting boundaries without guilt, asking for help (even when it feels uncomfortable), or carving out small moments in your day that are just yours. Not glamorous, not perfect—just real. And maybe balance isn’t something you ever fully “achieve.” Maybe it’s something you keep returning to, again and again, in different ways. A constant recalibration. A softer way of living inside a body that’s changing, not betraying you. Because even if you don’t feel like the same person you once were, that doesn’t mean you’re lost. You’re evolving. And finding balance in this season isn’t about getting back to who you were—it’s about learning how to be who you are now.
